GREAT Britain’s Kristian Thomas completed a memorable London 2012 campaign in disappointing fashion after finishing eighth in the men’s vault final.
SNAP SHOT: Kristian Thomas could only finish eighth in men's vault final but still leaves home Games with team bronze
Days after being the star performer as Team GB took bronze in the team final – their first men’s team medal in a century – the 23-year-old rounded off his Games with a vault final appearance.
And after a fantastic double piked Yurchenko saw Thomas notch 16.316 with his first vault, an unsteady landing in his second effort could only score 14.700 and bring his overall score to 15.333.
World champion Yang Hak Seon secured the gold with a superb 16.533 and Russian Denis Ablyazin finished second place with 16.399.
Ukraine’s Igor Radivilov took third with 16.316 in a strong final where five of the eight competitors posted scores above 16.
