Randall happy to bide her time in bid to make senior impact
EMILY Randall has already got a ticket to this summer's Olympics and, while that is for the stands and not the pool, she is more than happy to wait for her chance to shine.
PATIENT: Emily Randall, pictured with Olivia Allison, is building towards the senior British Championships in March
At 15-years-old and not currently part of the senior British synchronised swimming team - Randall isn't in a position to stake her claim for a place at London 2012.
However, she can still underline her future Olympic potential and has done, none more so than at the ASA National Age Group Championships in Gloucester last month.
Randall finished third in both the figures and solo and first with Rushmoor SSC in the team event but will step up to the senior British Championships in March with her long-term goals in mind.
"The British Championships will be an important part of what happens for London 2012 and although I am too young to realistically be involved it is great to be a part of such a special thing," said Randall - one of Kellogg's' Champions of Tomorrow.
"To be in that sort of environment will be really valuable in the future and I am really grateful I have the opportunity to go there and experience it.
"I actually managed to get London 2012 tickets for the team event final so hopefully I will be in the stands cheering Great Britain on to gold.
"And I am sure that whatever happens just seeing the Olympics up close and personal will have a huge affect on me and will make me hungry for my own success."
However, having finished top of the pile with Rushmoor SSC at the ASA National Age Group Championships, Randall does admit she will be seeking a repeat at the British equivalent.
"Last year ended on a high note for me so it will be all about keeping that up in 2012 and the big one is the British Championships - that is definitely the big one for the year," she added.
"All of the senior guys will be there so it is a chance to learn a lot in a pressure situation and to improve.
"But I would be lying if I said that we didn't have a chance as a team to win it so that is the aim in the team event."
To celebrate fifteen years of support for British Swimming, Kellogg's is offering a ‘Free Kids Swim' on 30 million packs of cereal to encourage families to take the plunge together.
