PARALYMPICS LONDON 2012: Future in doubt as Norfolk bows out with silver

PETER Norfolk admits his future in wheelchair tennis is up in the air after bowing out of London 2012 with a silver medal.

Two-time Paralympic gold medallist Norfolk suffered a quarter-final exit in the quad singles event at Eton Manor, before losing in the doubles final with Andy Lapthorne.

The British duo went down 2-6, 7-5, 2-6 to American defending champions David Wagner and Nick Taylor on centre court.

Norfolk and 21-year-old Lapthorne admitted to being far from satisfied with their silver medal, and Norfolk will now take some time away from the game to consider his future.

"Andy for sure can go to Rio and I am very grateful he helped me win a medal here," said the 51-year-old.

"It may be my last match but I won't make that decision yet. I'm going to spend some time with my family and take stock as I've spent a long time on court.

"London has been astronomically better than anything else and it will be hard to top."
