NOW the Christmas break is done there are two months until the Paralympic trials so everything is focused on that and my life is on hold until then.

I remember the trials from 2008 when I missed out on the qualification time for Beijing and that was very hard to take.
The trials for the Paralympics in 2004 were my first and that seems a long time ago now and I have developed a lot since then and I am looking forward to this year's now.
The British Gas Swimming Championships serve as the trials and they are going to be held in the Aquatics Centre which is the London 2012 swimming venue and it will be a great experience.
I am quietly confident about them but with a lot of nerves. I have been there and done it before and I am a lot older and a lot stronger now.
I have just got to stay well and injury free up to then. Missing out in a big race, like the one in 2008, is more painful than the 26 hours in a pool you do every week to prepare.
I am lot more mature and have developed a lot personally in myself since then so hopefully I can get to London 2012 this year.
After I missed out on selection for Beijing I just got straight back in the water and made sure I was working hard even while the Games was going on.
Of course I watched the Games on TV and enjoyed them but I also wanted to make sure I got started straight away on qualifying for London 2012.
2011 was pretty tough for me. I had to have my appendix out in August and that put me out for a little while and I missed the nationals.
It wasn't great at all and there is absolutely nothing you can do because you have to protect the injury.
But I made sure I got in the water ahead of when the doctor's recommended because I was desperate to get back swimming and start getting ready for London 2012.
I am a great believer that everything happens for a reason and I am just looking at it as an extra motivation on the way to test me and test how much I want this.
Our training plans are set out and regimented working towards London 2012 which is a bit scary - but definitely exciting at the same time. Now it is about making sure I get there.
