OLYMPICS LONDON 2012: Badminton draw fixers disqualified
By Sportsbeat staff, London 2012
EIGHT PLAYERS have been disqualified from the Olympics Badminton group stages after being accused of not trying.
The Badminton World Federation confirmed that four pairs of players – from China, Indonesia and two from South Korea – have been removed from the competition for "not using one's best efforts to win" during their matches on Tuesday.
The women's doubles players were investigated and charged after making numerous seemingly deliberate errors in an effort to fix more favourable quarter final fixtures, in front of a restless and booing crowd.
It was announced on Wednesday that the players, Chinese world champions Wang Xiaoli and Yu Yang, Indonesia's Greysia Polii and Meiliana Jauhari, and South Korean duos Jung Kyung-eun and Kim Ha-na, and Ha Jung-eun and Kim Min Jung, have been disqualified.
Paul Deighton, Chief Executive Officer of Locog, has confirmed that no refunds will be given to spectators of the badminton.

Olympic badminton scandal
it is the poor regulation from the olympic committee. There should not be group matches. All should be knock out stage and can avoid this happened.
It is very common tactic use in World cup soccer. German used this tactics on the past world-cup.
We always paise German for the smart tactics to avoid favourite team like Brazil. Why we have double standard?
cheating
the games have been tarnished....that is shameful...they are adults and they didn't need to cheat..
