We are the British Paralympic Association, known as ParalympicsGB. As the National Paralympic Committee for Great Britain, we take immense pride in our role to select, prepare, enter, fund, and manage the ParalympicsGB team for both the Summer and Winter Paralympic Games.

But our mission extends well beyond simply being a world-leading sports team that secures medals across a diverse array of sporting disciplines. At ParalympicsGB, we are dedicated to driving positive and sustainable change for disabled individuals within UK society. Over the past two years, we’ve channelled our efforts into social impact, carefully listening to and learning from athletes, the disabled community, and various sectors including sport, education, and disability.

Championing Change: Inspiring Equality

Our overarching ambition is to harness the transformative power of the Paralympics and the influence of Paralympic athletes to inspire a shift in societal attitudes towards disability. We aim to foster an environment of equality for disabled people across sport, education, and broader society. Our approach is fundamentally disabled-led, recognising the voices and experiences of those within the community to guide our initiatives.

With the excitement of the Paris Paralympic Games still resonating in our hearts and minds, there has never been a more exhilarating moment to join our ranks. The recent launch of our strategic initiative, Championing Change: Creating Social Impact 2024-2032, exemplifies our ambition to create a legacy of empowerment and inclusivity.

The Working Environment at ParalympicsGB

At ParalympicsGB, we offer a wide array of benefits designed to support our team members. These include a pension scheme, cycle-to-work initiatives, an employee assistance programme, private healthcare options, and generous holiday entitlements. Our commitment to a flexible working environment allows our employees the freedom to flourish, both personally and professionally.

Our modern and accessible offices, located in the heart of London, are complemented by a performance hub on the vibrant campus of Loughborough University. This blend of central and performance-driven locations underscores our commitment to ensuring that our team members have access to cutting-edge facilities and support.

Flexibility is not just a perk — it is an essential aspect of life at ParalympicsGB. We strive to accommodate our employees’ varying needs with available working patterns, thereby enhancing their overall experience and productivity within the organisation.

A Community Like No Other

If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to work within such a passionate environment, let us share some feedback from our current staff. In a recent survey, employees highlighted the following sentiments about their experiences at ParalympicsGB:

  • “There is a real sense of team and a genuine sense of pride throughout the organisation. People really work well together.”
  • “Being part of an organisation that makes a meaningful impact and purpose, alongside kind and talented individuals, is truly rewarding.”
  • “It’s a fantastic environment to work in where you know that your work contributes to substantial change.”

The spirit of teamwork and camaraderie that flows within our corridors echoes the very essence of the Paralympic ethos — resilience, courage, and unity. Much like our athletes competing on the world stage, we rise to challenges together, pushing boundaries and redefining possibilities.

Creating Lasting Impact

In the lead-up to the Paris Games, we are more committed than ever to advancing our social impact initiatives. The Paralympic movement has a rich history of challenging perceptions, breaking down barriers, and catalysing change. Just as athletes like Hannah Cockcroft and Jonnie Peacock have shattered records, we too are committed to shattering misconceptions about disability in our society.

We believe that every medal won on the Paralympic stage is not just a personal triumph for the athlete but a vital victory for the movement — a symbolic gesture that repositions disabled people as leaders and role models across all sectors.

As we continue to engage with athletes and communities to inspire change, we invite passionate individuals to join us in this transformative journey. It’s not just about sport; it’s about bringing light to the multiplicity of human experience, demonstrating that strength comes in many forms.
